Biography

Dr James Broderick is an Assistant Professor of Computer Game Design at George Mason University, Korea. He completed his BSc and PhD at the National University of Ireland Galway, where his research was focused on Extended Reality and Human-Computer Interaction in games. During and after his studies he was involved in projects related to serious game development in both academia and industry, as well as supervising student research related to virtual reality and edutainment. He has over 10 years of experience in teaching and research across a variety of topics related to Computer Science and Game Design and Development. Current he teaches classes focused on game design and interaction, from entry level up to special topics on XR, Serious Games, and Competitive Game Design.

In addition to his academic background, he has a keen interest in animation, games and pop culture, having founded one of Ireland's most successful animation conventions, assisted in organising game jams at his university, and ran a radio show covering Asian music and pop culture news. He is deeply committed to the student experience at university and it’s importance to a balanced academic growth.
